RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT GRANT #NJ0364L2F112410 FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE COST, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereafter the “Board”) are vested with decision-making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services (hereafter “Department”) is an umbrella social service agency concerned with planning and funding services for disadvantaged and homeless citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Department is requesting a resolution to apply for and accept Grant #NJ0364L2F112410 from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for rental assistance and administrative cost in the amount of one million three hundred seventy-five thousand nine hundred nineteen and 00/100 ($1,375,919.00) dollars; and
WHEREAS, an in-kind dollar match is required in the amount of three hundred forty-three thousand nine hundred seventy-nine and 75/100 ($343,979.75) dollars; and
WHEREAS, the grant period is April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the May 20, 2025, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Department of Human Services to apply for and accept Grant #NJ0364L2F112410 from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for rental assistance and administrative cost in the amount of one million three hundred seventy-five thousand nine hundred nineteen and 00/100 ($1,375,919.00) dollars with a grant period beginning on April 1, 2025 and ending March 31, 2026; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, Director of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Department of Human Services are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
