RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF PASSAIC TO APPLY FOR THE 2024-2025 LEAP COUNTY COORDINATOR FELLOWSHIP GRANT ADMINISTERED BY THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS, DIVISION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICES, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey has allocated Local Efficiency Achievement Program (“LEAP”) funding to support each county hiring a full time or part time Shared Services County Coordinator Fellow for a one (1) year period; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services (“DLGS”) administers the LEAP Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the LEAP County Coordinator Fellowship Grant exists to enhance focus on and interest in the cultivation of shared services opportunities across local government units; and
WHEREAS, the County is committed to identifying and achieving greater efficiencies and enhancing the quality of services within its borders; and
WHEREAS, the County its desirous to apply for the 2024-2025 LEAP County Coordinator Fellowship Grant, in the amount of seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) to hire a Shared Services County Coordinator Fellow; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the March 13, 2024 Administration and Finance Committee meeting and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the County of Passaic to apply for a 2024-2024 LEAP County Coordinator Fellowship Grant, in the amount of seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) to hire a Shared Services County Coordinator Fellow.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that there is no match requirement.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Administrator and Director of the Board are authorized to take any action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
