RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF SENIOR SERVICES ACCEPTANCE OF THE AMENDED GRANT CARRYOVER AWARD FROM NEW JERSEY TRANSIT FOR THE SENIOR CITIZEN AND DISABLED RESIDENT TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2025.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, in a letter dated June, 5, 2024, New Jersey Transit, Inc., informed the Department that it was eligible to apply for and accept the Senior Citizens and Disabled Residents Transportation Assistance Program FY 2025 in the amount of one million, seven hundred forty-three thousand, eight hundred and nine dollars ($1,743,809.00) for the fiscal year 2025;
WHEREAS, the Department of Senior Services is now seeking authorization to accept the Carryover amount from the FY23 Budget in the amount of $291,800.89 to be incorporated into the 2025 Budget with a new total grant under this program in the amount of two million thirty-five thousand and six hundred nine dollars and eighty-nine cents ($2,035,609.89).
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the May 14, 2025 Administration and Finance Committee meeting, and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:5-30, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the acceptance and execution of the Grant Amendment from New Jersey Transit increasing the grant award for the 2025 Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Program in the amount of Two Million Seven Hundred and Ten Thousand and Ninety Seven Dollars and Seventy One Cents ($2,710,097.71).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, County Finance, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
