RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF GRANTS UNDER ROUND 4 OF THE PASSAIC COUNTY AMERICA 250 MINI-GRANT PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40A:20-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs has established the America 250 Mini-Grant Program to support local organizations, museums, historical societies, schools, and community groups in developing programs, exhibits, educational initiatives, public events, and interpretive projects commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the America 250 Mini-Grant Program is to promote community engagement, historical education, and cultural tourism throughout Passaic County in advance of the national America 250 celebration; and
WHEREAS, applications submitted under Round 4 of the America 250 Mini-Grant Program have been reviewed and evaluated by the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs based on program eligibility, project impact, historic significance, public accessibility, and alignment with the goals of the Passaic County America 250 initiative; and
WHEREAS, the Department recommends the award of grant funding to the following organizations and projects under Round 2 of the America 250 Mini-Grant Program:

WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. O-26-56-670-002-604, or any other account that may be deemed appropriate by the Chief Financial Officer or his designee, and the availability of funds has been contingently certified by the Chief Financial Officer subject to sufficient funds being appropriated by the Board in the 2026 and/or subsequent years’ County budget(s); and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the August 26, 2026 meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs to award the above-listed grants under Round 4 of the Passaic County America 250 Mini-Grant Program; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Director of Cultural & Historic Affairs, and the Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
