RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF A GRANT TO CITY GREEN, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($150,000.00) FOR THE 2026 DIG-IN COMMUNITY PROGRAM, TO BE FUNDED THROUGH THE PASSAIC COUNTY OPEN SPACE TRUST FUND, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Open Space Trust Fund supports projects that enhance open space, community resources, and environmental sustainability throughout the County; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs is requesting approval to authorize the award of a grant to City Green, Inc., in the amount of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) for the 2026 Dig-In Community Program, to be funded through the Passaic County Open Space Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, City Green, Inc., will utilize these funds to implement the Dig-In Community Program, which supports community gardening, urban agriculture, and public engagement initiatives throughout Passaic County and which promotes environmental stewardship, expands access to fresh produce, and provides educational opportunities related to sustainable gardening and food systems; and
WHEREAS, this grant award is consistent with the goals and objectives of the Passaic County Open Space Trust Fund, which supports projects that enhance open space, community resources, and environmental sustainability; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 29, 2026 meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Passaic County Board of County Commissioners hereby authorizes the award of a grant to City Green, Inc., in the amount of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) for the 2026 Dig-In Community Program, to be funded through the Passaic County Open Space Trust Fund, and further authorizes the execution of all necessary documents related thereto.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, and the Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
