RESOLUTION ACCEPTING GRANT AWARD FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE, FOR SPRUCE STREET GATEWAY PHASE II IMPROVEMENTS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH N.J.S.A. 40:20-1.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter "County") is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter "Board") is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the County seeks to improve the streetscape amenities along Spruce Street from Market Street to McBride Avenue in Paterson with the goal of making pedestrian access to the Great Falls National Historical Park and the surrounding area easier and safer for all; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Planning and Economic Development is requesting a resolution accepting grant award of One Million Two Hundred Fifteen Thousand ($1,215,000.00) Dollars from US Department of Housing and Urban Development Economic Development Initiative for streetscape improvements as stated above.
WHEREAS, the matter was discussed at the January 31, 2024, meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter "Board”) hereby authorizes the acceptance of a grant award of One Million Two Hundred Fifteen Thousand ($1,215,000.00) Dollars from US Development of Housing and Urban Development Economic Development Initiative for streetscape improvements to Spruce Street in Paterson from Market Street to Grand Street.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, the Director of the Division of Economic Development, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
