RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PASSAIC COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE TO APPLY FOR FFY23 STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMAN ACT GRANT PROGRAM

WHERAS, the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioner of the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office (hereinafter “PCPO”) seeks permission to apply for and accept the FFY23 STOP Violence Against Woman Act Grant Program (Subaward Number VAWA-46-23) (hereinafter the “VAWA Grant”), which will allow it to accept an award of up to fifty-four thousand seven hundred eighty-eight dollars ($54,788.00) to support the County Office of Victim Witness Advocacy Victim Services Project for the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the VAWA Grant will require an in-kind salary/fringe match in an amount of eighteen thousand two hundred sixty-three dollars ($18,263.00) for the program for a total project amount of seventy-three thousand fifty-one dollars ($73,051.00); and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed by the Law and Public Safety Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to apply for and accept the FFY23 STOP Violence Against Woman Act Grant Program (Subaward VAWA-46-23) which will allow it to accept an award of up to fifty-four thousand seven hundred eighty-eight dollars ($54,788.00) to support the County Office of Victim Witness Advocacy Victim Services Project for the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the VAWA Grant will require an in-kind salary/fringe match in an amount of eighteen thousand two hundred sixty-three dollars ($18,263.00) for the program for a total project amount of seventy-three thousand fifty-one dollars ($73,051.00).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office shall use the funds received for the purposes described in the application submitted for same.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, County Administrator, Prosecutor and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to execute an agreement and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this resolution.
