RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH THROUGH THE LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH OUTBREAK PREPAREDNESS & RESPONSE GRANT PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (“County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (“Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health Services (“Department”) is responsible for protecting and promoting the health of approximately 525,000 residents of the County; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Health (“NJDOH”), through its Division of Local Public Health, has announced the availability of approximately $1.25 million in funding through its Local Public Health Outbreak Preparedness & Response Grant Program, which is intended to help local health departments strengthen their infectious disease outbreak preparedness and response capacity; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department is requesting that the Board authorize the Department to apply for and accept a Local Public Health Outbreak Preparedness & Response Grant Program grant from the NJDOH, in an amount to be determined based on NJDOH approval, for a budget period from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the May 27, 2026, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the Department of Health Services to apply for and accept a Local Public Health Outbreak Preparedness & Response Grant Program grant from the New Jersey Department of Health, in an amount to be determined based on NJDOH approval, for a budget period from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk to the Board, County Counsel, Director of the Department, and Director of the Board are authorized to take any other action necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
