RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF SENIOR SERVICES TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, DIVISION OF FAMILY HEALTH SERVICES, FOR THE WIC SENIOR FARMERS’ MARKET NUTRITION PROGRAM 2023, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, ET SEQ.

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (the “County”) is a government body incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1, et seq. and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Passaic (hereinafter the “Board”) are vested with decision making powers on behalf of the County; and
WHEREAS, the County, through its Department of Senior Services (hereafter “Department”), provides assistance with senior benefit programs, including home and community services to senior citizens throughout Passaic County; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey, Department of Health, Division of Family Health Services, has informed the Department that it is eligible for a grant award for the WIC Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program 2024 in the amount of Two Thousand One Hundred Fifty-Seven and 00/100 ($2,157.00) Dollars for the grant period May 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, there is no dollar match required to accept this award; and
WHEREAS, this award will provide Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program benefits to senior citizens in order to provide both nutrition education and nutritious fruits and vegetables to senior citizens throughout Passaic County; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the April 2 2024, meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) hereby authorizes the Department of Senior Services to apply for and accept a grant award from the State of New Jersey, Department of Health, Division of Family Health Services, for the WIC Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program in the amount of Two Thousand One Hundred Fifty Seven and 00/100 ($2,157.00) dollars for the grant period of May 1, 2024 through September 30, 2024; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Board, the Clerk to the Board, and County Counsel are authorized to take the necessary actions to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
