RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL & HISTORIC AFFAIRS TO ACCEPT A GRANT UNDER THE CREATIVE AGING INITIATIVE GRANT PROGRAM FROM THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF STATE, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1

WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter “County”) is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter “Board”) is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey, Department of State is offering a grant under the Creative Aging Initiative Grant program, which provides funding to arts organizations, libraries, veterans homes, and senior and community centers to cover costs of arts learning experiences for New Jersey's older adults; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs (hereafter “Department”) was informed by the Department of State that it was eligible to apply for and accept the Creative Aging Initiative Grant, in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00); and
WHEREAS, the Department will be using this grant award to create two twelve-week courses in art theory and instruction for Passaic County Seniors, which will culminate in a six-week gallery showing and artist reception at the Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House in the Borough of Hawthorne; and
WHEREAS, this matter was discussed at the January 10, 2024, meeting of the Public Works Committee and is being recommended to the Board for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic authorizes the acceptance the Creative Aging Initiative Grant from the State of New Jersey, Department of State, in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00).
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized execute any documents for the grant application and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
